Facebook Fatigue!
According to GWI Global Web Index ”the guys who carry out surveys and stuff on the InterWebThingy”, Social Networking is on the rise but Facebook isn’t!
Let’s look at why this might be.
Well, nothing remains novel and unique for ever, or indeed not for very long at all. Facebook is unique in the sense that it stayed unique, inasmuch as it could, but is it still novel? We think not.
Facebook went to IPO with $5 Billion Dollars last week the largest ever Internet IPO, ever, ever, ever, Sofar! We suspect that it tells its investors things like, “our users spend x amount of time on our site”. Why not, we would. But let’s look at that X for a moment.
How many of us are “on” FB 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Lots of us! Our Smart cell phones are connected to FB continuously. Let’s be honest, how often do you switch your cell phone off?! So with that in mind, how much time do we actually spend on Facebook engaging? Do we even engage any more, or do we just post and share? How many of your FB friends posts do you actually read? Did you infact read this post as a result of it being shared on Facebook?
Facebook has evolved in to an integral part of our existences. When was the last time you emailed your Mum or other family member just to say hi? For this purpose, email is redundant, we Facebook message or chat.
Facebook Fatigue was coined recently by some, including The Next Web whom we adore here at HyperHippie. Read their article here.
But is it really Fatigue, or is it e-volution? And what’s next, Google Grogginess?
We’ve included this presentation thing below from the GWI guys. We haven’t read it, so we don’t even know if it’s the right one. But it looks good here on our page, don’t you think?
